Did some digging in Norm Swinford's Book: Allis Chalmers Farm Equipment 1914- 1985 on the prices of what a New Gleaner conventional combine cost New in the Fall of 1984. According to the Book:
Gleaner F3 with 13 foot flex head was $ 64,415 US
Gleaner M3 with 16 foot flex head was $ 83,500 US
Gleaner MH3 with 22 foot flex head was $ 118,152 US
Gleaner L3 with 20 foot flex head was $ 115,300 US
May look cheap compared to what a New combine costs in 2016 dollars, but for farmers in the 1980's those prices were probably still pretty high for some farmers. Especially as we all know how back the 1980's Farming economy was. It is amazing as to how expensive combines have become in 2016.
